Predicting marital infidelity based on family conditions of couples referred to social emergency

Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study is predicting marital infidelity based on marital status of couples referred to social emergency in Sari. 
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this descriptive correlational study consisted of all couples who refer to the social emergency center of Sari. The sample size is 200 people that is selected by random cluster sampling.
Results: The results showed that the relationship between economic condition and the couples’ tendency to marital betrayal is significant and reverse, it is indicated the relationship between the two variables of social condition and the couples’ tendency to marital betrayal is significant level of 99%. The result of the correlation test between two variables of cultural condition and the couples’ tendency to marital betrayal showed that the relationship between these two variables, is significant and reverse at the error level of less than 0.1 and significant level of 99%. The relationship between religious condition and the couples’ tendency to marital betrayal is significant and reverse at the error level of less than 0.5 and significant level of 95%. Finally, the result of Pearson correlation test between the two variables of academic condition and the couples’ tendency to marital betrayal showed that the relationship between these two variables, is significant and reverse at the error level of less than 0.5 and significant level of 95%.
Conclusion: It seems that family conditions have significant impacts on tendency to marital infidelity.
