مقدمه: افسردگی با استعاره مفهوم‌سازی می‌شود، با توجه به این نکته، این پژوهش با هدف تحلیل برخی از استعاره‌های شناختی اصلی افسردگی از دیدگاه روانشناسان بالینی انجام شد.
روش کار: روش این پژوهش از نوع تحلیل کیفی- شناختی بود. جامعه پژوهش در مرحله اول کلیه روانشناسان بالینی درمانگر بیماران افسرده شهر تهران در سال 1390 بودند. سپس 30 روانشناس بالینی به روش نمونه گیری هدفمند بر اساس قاعده اشباع نظری انتخاب شدند. از شرکت کنندگان خواسته شد تا توضیحاتی در مورد افسردگی ارائه دهند که بیماران افسرده به آنها ارائه کردند که منجر به تشخیص سریع افسردگی شد. مکالمه آنها با ضبط صدای واتساپ ضبط و جمع آوری شد. در مرحله دوم این پژوهش، جامعه 625 عبارت استعاری به دست آمد. بر اساس قاعده اشباع نظری، 200 عبارت به صورت هدفمند انتخاب شد. عبارات و جملاتی که در آن افسردگی و علائم آن به صورت استعاری بیان شده بود به صورت دستی تفکیک و دسته بندی شدند.
یافته ها: نتایج این مطالعه نشان داد که 7 حوزه منبع مهم برای افسردگی در بیماران افسرده فارسی زبان وجود دارد. آنها به ترتیب شامل مکان، ظرف، مسیر، جهت، شی، انسان، طعم و رنگ هستند. مکان، ظرف، مسیر و جهت بیشترین نقشه برای افسردگی است.
نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به قاعده تجسم و مانند سایر مفاهیم انتزاعی، به نظر می‌رسد افسردگی با استعاره‌های شناختی قابل درک و مفهوم‌سازی باشد.
