Introduction: The increasing incidence of leukemia is one of the problems of modern medical science. People diagnosed with cancer need to stay hopeful during the process of treatment. Moreover, the diagnosis of cancer sometimes leads to posttraumatic growth. In this regard, this study aimed to investigate the role of humor in hope and posttraumatic growth among leukemia patients in Zahedan.Materials and Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in Imam Ali (AS) Hospital in Zahedan in 2015. The sample consisted of 70 patients selected by the convenience sampling method. The measurement tools were the Khashoui et al. Sense of Humor Questionnaire (SHQ), the Snyder et al. Hope Scale, and the Tedeschi and Calhoun Posttraumatic Growth Inventory. To analyze the relationships among the variables and to predict variances in hope and posttraumatic growth, the correlation tests and the stepwise regression analysis were used. Results: The results showed that the total score of humor (r= 0.37, P<0.01) and the subscales of enjoying humor (r= 0.34, P<0.01) and having a sense of humor in stressful conditions (r= 0.28, P<0.05) were significantly and positively related to hope. Additionally, the results of the stepwise regression analysis indicated that the total score of humor was able to significantly predict hope (β= 0.37, P<0.01). Moreover, the results demonstrated that there was a significant and positive relationship between the total score of humor and posttraumatic growth (r= 0.46, P<0.001) and the results of regression analysis showed that the total score of humor was able to significantly predict posttraumatic growth (β= 0.46, P<0.01).Conclusion: The findings of this study confirmed the role of humor in predicting hope and posttraumatic growth among the leukemia patients.

Introduction: Psychological well-being (PWB) and having a meaningful life play a role in reducing the incidence and mortality of cardiac disease. The aim of this study is to assess PWB in two groups of people with heart disease and healthy people.Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was performed in two groups of people with heart disease and healthy people referring to a cardiac clinic of Heshmat Hospital in Rasht from Feb to July 2016. Ryff’s PWB and demographic information were completed for all the participants. Average grade of welfare and six subscales both groups were compared using independent t-test. Relevance of well-being score with variables was surveyed using multiple linear regression model. Results: Number of 88 cases entered in the study with the average age of 50.47±15.88 year. Total score was 80.50±10.44 in ill group and 87.66±8.75 in healthy group which was significantly higher in healthy group (P=0.001). The results showed that the score of well-being in people without cardiac disease is 8.7 units more than the group suffering from it. It also showed that the score of well-being in individuals without hypertention is 3.5 units higher than those who are hypertention. No significant relevance was observed between other demographic variables and well-being score. Conclusion: In this study cardiac disease and hypertention were considered as factors related to well-being status. Futuristic longitudinal studies to survey the occurance of cardiac disease in individuals with various well-being score and executing plans to improve well-being situation as a preventive factor is recommended.

Introduction: The current research aims at investigating the effect of demographic features such as educational level, gender, type of disorder, and physician's empathy and emotional intelligence on Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC) patients’ treatment dropout.Materials and Methods: A sample of 4101 patients and 26 physicians were selected. Patients’ information was collected through CMHC registration software (information was already saved on the software since the centers have been established). Information related to physicians was also collected via two questionnaires, namely Bar-On EQ Inventory, and Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy (JSPE), merely after consent forms were filled out. Based on the type of data, the collected information was transferred into nominal data, and later analyzed through Chi-square test via SPSS software. Results: The results of the current research suggested that the more empathetic a physician is, the less likely patients’ treatment dropout would be. Moreover, there was no significant relationship between the EI average score and treatment dropout. There was only a significant relationship between treatment dropout and adaptability, an EI competency. The findings of the current research indicated that none of the patients’ demographic variables (gender, educational level, and type of disorder) had a significant relationship with treatment dropout. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, physicians’ communication skills, empathy, and adaptability did not significantly contribute to their patients’ treatment dropout.

Introduction: The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based group therapy (MBGT) in relapse prevention for methamphetamine dependent males. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial used pretest-posttest control group design. Of the methamphetamine-addicted individuals admitted to Pouyandegan-e-Hasti addiction treatment center in Mashhad in 2017, 40 subjects were selected through convenience sampling after the detoxification period and were randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group attended 9 sessions of mindfulness-based relapse prevention model training while the control group attended the usual group therapy program of the center. The two groups completed Relapse Prediction Scale (RPS) and Beck Depression Inventory, Second Edition (BDI-II) before and after treatment and also Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI) and Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) in the posttest. The data was analyzed using one-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), independent t-test and chi-square test in SPSS-24. Results: The results demonstrated that MBGT causes decreased drug craving (P=0.001), likelihood of substance abuse (P=0.003) and depression (P=0.001) and overall improvement (P=0.032) of the experimental group compared to the control group. Further, no significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of treatment satisfaction (P=0.893), but the number of people with relapses in the control group was more than twice as much as the experimental group. Conclusion: It seems that mindfulness-based group therapy is effective in methamphetamine relapse prevention.

Introduction: Given the importance of identifying factors influencing emotion dysregulation in order to design interventions to promotion emotion regulation in different age groups, present study aimed to investigating the role of dimensions of UPPS-P model of impulsivity and age increasing in men’s emotion dysregulation.Materials and Methods: The number of 294 subjects were selected through available sampling from men general population of Tehran city and were assessed employing UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, and demographic questionnaire. Data were analyzed based on Pearson correlation test and hierarchical regression analysis using version 22 of SPSS software. Results: The findings showed that there were significant coloration between all dimensions of impulsivity, with the exception of sensation seeking, and age with emotion dysregulation. Results of regression analysis showed that dimensions of impulsivity and age have significant role in prediction of emotion dysregulation and explain 47 percent of total variance of it (F=40.67, P<0.01). Among the predictor variables lack of perseverance (t=3.66, P<0.01), negative urgency (t=5.98, P<0.01), positive urgency (t=2.81, P<0.01), and age (t=-2.14, P<0.01) had significant contribution in the prediction of the emotion dysregulation. Conclusion: Although the contribution of dimensions of impulsivity in the prediction of the emotion dysregulation is much more prominent than age and shows the importance of impulsivity in emotion dysregulation, age also has significant contribution in prediction of emotion dysregulation and increasing in age is accompanied with better using emotional regulation strategies and reducing in emotion dysregulation.
