Today, due to increased infertility in couples and a lack of guardianship of orphan children, much attention has been drawn on adoption. Purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of adoption skills training on stress reduction and improving coping styles of couples who are applicants for having an adopted child.
Materials and Methods: Present study has semi-experimental design. The research community consisted of all couples who are adoptive applicants to have an adopted child and in 2009-2010 referred to the Welfare Organization of Khorasan Razavi. Couples who are eligible for the research criteria were selected by convenience sampling method. They filled in Cattle Anxiety Inventory and Lazarus and Folkman Coping Styles Inventory. 14 couples who had raw score greater than 35 in anxiety test and emotion oriented coping style in Coping Style Inventory were selected and allocated by random assignment method in control or experimental groups. Then eight sessions of adoption skills training were carried out for the experimental group. The control group passed the normal process of administrative stages. The rate of stress and coping styles of both groups were measured after treatment and the following six weeks performed to evaluate the passage of time on the experimental group. Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and repeated measurements variance.
Results: There was a significant and positive difference in scores of two tests (Cattle Anxiety and Lazarus and Folkman coping styles) between two experimental and control groups (P≤0.05).
Conclusion: Finally, it can be concluded that adoption skills training can reduce stress levels of experimental group and makes the people to use more problem oriented coping styles in coping with stress.

Postpartum depression is a problematic and major disease, with the average prevalence of 13 percent, if not diagnosed and treated may be complicated. Problem solving skills training is one of simple treatments that could be trained in health centers. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of problem solving skills training on severity of depressive symptoms in postpartum women. Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was performed (during Jan 2009-Jun 2010) on 54 women after delivery from health centers of 2nd and 3rd zones of Mashhad. Women who fulfilled inclusion criteria and got the score of 10 or above on Edinburgh Scale and got score of 14 to 28 on Beck Depression Inventory and their depression was confirmed by clinical psychologist, were randomly allocated to two groups of intervention (n=26) and control (n=28). In the intervention group, problem-solving skills were educated during six sessions of 45-50 minutes. In both groups, again, Beck Depression Inventory was completed in 9 weeks after delivery. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis in SPSS software. Results: The finding showed that severity of depressive symptoms are significantly different at 9 weeks postpartum between two groups (P=0.000). The mean difference of severity of depressive symptoms are significantly different between two groups in the beginning of research and 9 weeks after delivery (P=0.000). Depressive symptoms were decreased about 77.6% in problem solving skills group comparing 23.5% in control group. Conclusion: Based on this study, problem-solving skills training is an effective method in reducing the severity of depressive symptoms. Therefore it is recommended that problem-solving skills training could be used as one of the mental health strategies in health centers.

This study was conducted in order to determine the validity and reliability of Chen Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS) among the medical students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional study on 214 medical students of Tehran University who completed the Chen Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS) and Internet Addiction Scale (IAS) in autumn and winter of 2010-2011. The sampling was performed with available sampling method. After translation of CIAS, the face validity was confirmed by three community medicine specialists. Then IAD, demographic and internet use data forms were filled by the medical students. Validity and reliability of CIAS questionnaire was evaluated with factorial analysis, internal consistency, convergent validity, and Cronbach alpha test by SPSS soft ware. Results: In the validity investigation of CIAS, convergent validity shows (r=0.85) with (P=0.001) and factorial analysis by varimax rotation, revealed five factors. In the reliability investigation of CIAS, results of cronbach alpha, was (α=0.93). Conclusion: The validity and reliability of CIAS was acceptable but due to the lack of an approved gold standard in the diagnosis of internet addiction, further studies are needed for agreement on clinical diagnostic criteria in order to determine proper cut off point for the questionnaire. This is a fundamental step in the planning, preventing and treatment of this disorder.

Materials and Methods: The English version of the CERQ-K was translated and back-translated prior to its administration to 531(258 boys and 273 girls) students from third, fourth and fifth grades of primary school at 2010-2011 in Mashhad. The reliability of Persian version of the CERQ-K-P was assessed via internal consistency, item-rest correlations.Factor structure scale with both methods confirmatory factor analysis and principal component analysis using varimax rotation was assessed. The validity of questionnaire was examined from correlation between the subscales and criterion validity. Results: The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for all subscales and total scale in participants of both genders were good in psychometric properties and most of the correlations range more than 0.4. The factor structure of CERQ-K-P using the exploratory factor analysis supported of model of 9 main factors and it was explained 68 percent of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis results also indicate that items are good fit. Moreover, the model of correlation coefficients indicating good validity of the scale between subscales and criterion validity of the questionnaire, the multidimensional anxiety scale for children and children's depression scale. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, CERQ-K-P has good reliability and validity in Iranian population and is an appropriate tool for screening, diagnosis and treatment of various emotional problems for clinical and research opportunities in different fields of psychology, psychiatry, psychiatric nursing and Pediatric psychology.

The present study conducted to examine the effect of attachment based play therapy on developmental traumatic disorder (DTD)in children.
Materials and Methods: This semi-experimental study with control group, conducted in 2008, in Mashhad. Fourteen kids (3-9 years), who were diagnosed as having DTD based on Vander Kolk criteria, were selected from child psychiatry clinic in Ibn-e-Sina and dr. Sheikh hospitals. Their parents permitted to involve in this study. Patients were divided to 2 groups of intervention and control groups. Mothers of children completed Yule’s scale and for evaluation of children's stress parenting stress index-short form (PSI-SF) for evaluation of parents' stress. Ten sessions of play therapy were conducted for intervention groups. Then mothers in 2 groups completed the tests again.
Results: In the variables of age, sex and grade of children also in the age and education of mothers, patients in 2 groups did not have any significant differences (P>0.05). There were not any significant differences in scores of Yule’s scale, PSI-SF and parental distress at base- line between 2 groups (P=0.10, P=0.34 and P=0.58 respectively). After play therapy these test in the intervention group was significantly different from the control group (P<0.001, P=0.01 and P=0.01 respectively). The differences in scores of difficult child subscale between 2 groups, before and after intervention were not significant (P=0.86, P=0.14 respectively). The differences in scores of malfunction in child-parent relation before and after treatment were significant in intervention group (P=0.01) but there were not meaningful differences in control group (P=0.52).
Conclusion: Attachment based developmental play therapy reduces the stress of children and their mothers.
